GREAT READING FOR ALL PARENTS
I have noticed that students always seem enthusiastic about signing up for an instrument, thinking that they’ll be playing professional level music in no time at all. When they realize it doesn’t work like that, they might get a little discouraged and impatient. This can be a normal feeling for the student, but it is during this moment when you as a parent can encourage them the most! They might say it’s hard, or they don’t like it, or are too tired to wake up early, but this can be a great opportunity to remind your children that sometimes little sacrifices like this are worth it in the long run. Even if a student struggles with their instrument, they still have much to gain as long as they put the work in. Once they stick it out and find that “Eureka” moment where they start to really improve, they will start enjoying it more and more and will be so thankful that you pushed them to continue!
